Charging Port Repair in Anand
"It only charges if I hold the cable at an angle" is one of the most common things we hear, and the fix is often cheaper than people expect.
Try this first — it is free
A large share of the phones brought to us for charging problems do not need a repair at all. They need the port cleaned out.
A charging port is an open slot in your pocket. Lint, dust and fabric fibres compact into the bottom of it over months, forming a dense plug that stops the cable seating fully. The symptoms are exactly the same as a failed port: the cable feels loose, charging is intermittent, it works at an angle.
Look into the port with a torch. If you can see grey fuzz packed at the bottom, that is your problem. We clean ports out properly — and if that is all your phone needs, we will tell you, rather than quoting a port replacement.
When the port has actually failed
- The cable is visibly loose and falls out under its own weight
- You can see bent or missing pins inside
- The port wobbles or has been pushed in
- Charging works on one cable and not another, with clean ports
- The port is corroded after the phone got wet
On most Android phones the port sits on a small daughterboard and replacement is straightforward. On iPhones and some flagships the port is soldered directly to the motherboard, which makes it micro-soldering work rather than a swap — it comes off and goes on under the microscope with hot air.
When the port is not the problem at all
Sometimes the port is perfect and the fault is further in. The charging IC on the motherboard controls the whole process, and when it fails the phone will not charge from any cable, on any charger, with a brand-new port fitted. Water damage and bad third-party chargers are the usual causes.
The symptoms overlap almost completely with a failed port, which is why some people end up paying for a port replacement that changes nothing. We test where the charge is actually stopping before quoting, so you are told which of the two you have.
If it is the charging IC, that is board-level work — see motherboard and IC-level repair.
How long and what it costs
Cleaning is quick. A daughterboard port replacement is usually done the same day. A soldered port takes longer because it is microscope work.
Price depends on which of those three your phone needs, which is why we diagnose before quoting. Message us on WhatsApp and describe what it is doing.
